A cone crusher has a fixed part and a mobile part. The fixed part is called the casing, and is made up of three sections: the lower frame encompassing the drive units, the intermediate frame, and the upper frame. Crushing processes occur in the crushing chamber, which is protected with convex and concave liners, usually made of manganese steel.

The lower frame is made of cast steel, with the core attached to the frame body by radial arms, also protected by wear liners.
